For an air separation plant in Phoenix Arizona, we supplied the necessary static calculations for the cold boxes in steel construction. In addition to determining the loads in accordance with American regulations for the operating condition (ASCE), the transport conditions also had to be taken into account. The load-bearing structures were designed in accordance with American standards (AISC).

For the transport from the LINDE plant in Schalchen (Tacherting) to Phoenix, the various transport conditions of ship transport, road transport and lifting/erection with the respective individual support situations and acceleration factors had to be taken into account.

A rectification and an argon cold box, each 46.1 m high, and a heat exchanger cold box were set up on site, which were coupled with each other for the operating conditions in order to reduce forces and minimise deformations.
