In Reykjavik, Iceland, we had to deal with some special challenges. For our customer, a plant with heavy horizontal and vertical liquid gas tanks was to be erected on volcanic rock - in a location with extreme wind loads (wk = 3.00 kN/m²) and the risk of strong earthquakes (agr = 2.00 m²).
In close and professional co-operation with the authorities and local structural engineers, we were able to solve the special challenges.
Due to the lack of suitable steel construction companies in the vicinity of the plant, the entire nacelle was prefabricated in Lithuania and transported to Iceland by ship. The plant access road also has a special feature to offer. No snow clearing is necessary during the 6-month winter, the road is heated with hot thermal water.
